Sulaimani Security Forces Capture Two ISIS Operatives

The statement revealed that the suspects had previously undergone military and ideological training within the ranks of the terrorist organization.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Sulaimani Security Forces (Asaish) announced the capture of two ISIS terrorists in separate counterterrorism operations conducted in the vicinity of Sulaimani.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the directorate confirmed that the arrests were made between February 12 and 16, following intelligence gathering and judicially authorized investigations.

The detainees were tracked down through precise intelligence operations, leading to their capture without incident.

Terrorists Planned Attacks in Sulaimani
According to the security forces, the arrested ISIS operatives had been actively planning attacks aimed at destabilizing the region. The statement further revealed that the suspects had previously undergone military and ideological training within the ranks of the terrorist organization.

They confirmed that the detainees have been charged under Article 2 of the Anti-Terrorism Law and will face legal action. Investigations into their activities and potential connections are still ongoing.

Heightened Security Following Recent ISIS Ambush
This development comes amid heightened security concerns following an ISIS ambush on shepherds in the Tuz Khurma district of Saladin province, which prompted a swift response from Peshmerga forces.

On Feb.19, 2025, the Peshmerga Ministry reported that ISIS militants launched an attack on civilians in the village of Duraji, leading to heavy clashes before the terrorists fled the scene. Peshmerga units were deployed immediately, ensuring the safety of the targeted shepherds.
