UN Representative Iraq Committed to Strengthening Security and Stability

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The United Nations Representative in Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, reaffirmed Iraq’s determination to support national security and stability, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and a shared national vision.

Speaking on Saturday, during the Seventh edition of the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, Al-Hassan stated that Iraq is steadfast in its commitment to fostering stability and national unity. 

He underscored the importance of a dialogue rooted in respect for diverse perspectives and a collective focus on building a strong and secure future.

"The rich history of Iraq necessitates a constructive and inclusive dialogue, unified under the banner of national interest," Al-Hassan said.

UN Affirms Continued Support for Iraq

The UN representative reiterated the organization's long-term commitment to supporting Iraq, affirming that the international body will remain a partner in efforts to strengthen governance and stability.

His remarks came as the seventh edition of the Baghdad Dialogue Conference commenced in the Iraqi capital, bringing together Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, Prime Minister Al-Sudani, and other high-ranking officials.

Under the theme "Connectivity for Development and Regional Stability," the conference serves as a platform for engaging discussions on economic growth, security, and Iraq’s evolving role in the region.

Key Discussions: Development Road Project and Security Challenges

The conference agenda includes critical discussions on the Development Road Project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing Iraq’s economic integration and strengthening regional security.

Additionally, sessions will address Iraq’s strategic role in fostering regional stability, along with a dedicated panel on the role of intellectual and political elites in shaping the country’s future.

The Baghdad Dialogue Conference stands as a crucial forum for fostering regional cooperation, offering a space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration to support sustainable development and long-term stability across the region.
