ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a significant step toward preserving Kurdish language and culture abroad, Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), announced on Tuesday that the Ministry of Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Kurdish Diaspora Confederation. The agreement, initiated under the recommendation of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, aims to enhance educational opportunities for Kurds living outside the region.

One of the key objectives of this memorandum is the establishment of a dedicated directorate focused on Kurdish education for diaspora communities. This initiative is expected to provide structured support for Kurdish language learning and cultural education in various countries where Kurds reside.

Additionally, the project includes the creation of a major institution, such as a federation, to support the Kurdish diaspora in a range of activities, with a particular emphasis on language, education, and cultural development. This move is seen as a crucial step in ensuring that Kurdish heritage and identity remain strong among diaspora communities.

“Today, we are coordinating with an important center that is well-known among many Kurds in the diaspora—the Kurdish Diaspora Confederation,” Hama Saeed stated during the press conference.

This initiative highlights the KRG’s commitment to fostering connections with Kurdish communities worldwide, ensuring that language and cultural education remain a priority for future generations.
