ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a landmark development strengthening ties between Erbil and Paris, the Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, announced that a street and park in Paris will be named after the Peshmerga. The announcement was made during an exclusive interview with Kurdistan24 on Thursday.

The gesture is a symbolic tribute to the Peshmerga’s role in protecting the Kurdish people and their contributions to regional stability. Khoshnaw confirmed that preparations for the dedication of the street and park have already been completed, marking a significant milestone in the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and France.

Additionally, Khoshnaw shared exciting news about the Erbil Citadel. A Paris House will soon be constructed on the historic site as part of a collaborative project between the Erbil government and Paris officials. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Khoshnaw and the Mayor of Paris, where it was also decided that one of the houses at the Citadel would undergo renovations to accommodate the new Paris House.

The Governor also highlighted that the Paris municipality has voted to host the Newroz celebration inside the Paris municipality building, further cementing the cultural ties between the Kurdistan Region and France. This year's Newroz celebration is set to take place at Paris municipal headquarters tonight, with representatives from French institutions and diplomats in attendance.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) representative in France also spoke about the significance of these developments, stating that the recent Newroz celebrations in Cologne demonstrated to the world that the Kurds are a stabilizing force in the region.
