ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has extended a formal message of congratulations to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on the occasion of the party's 50th anniversary.
"On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), I extend my warmest congratulations to the party's leadership, members, and supporters, and I wish them continued success," Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stated in an official message released on Saturday.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the PUK as an important political force in the Kurdistan Region, expressing hope that the party would continue its efforts to protect the Region's national gains and uphold its constitutional rights within the framework of the Iraqi federal system.
“I hope that the PUK, as an important political force in the Kurdistan Region, will continue to succeed in its struggle to safeguard national achievements and constitutional status within the Region,” the statement read.
In a broader political appeal, PM Barzani used the occasion to stress the urgent necessity of forming a new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) without further delay.
"On this occasion, I also emphasize the urgent need to form the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government as soon as possible so that it may continue its reform agenda, serve the people of Kurdistan, and address both regional and local challenges effectively," he added.
The message comes at a critical time, as the KRG faces mounting pressure from Baghdad over financial entitlements and is simultaneously navigating internal political realignments. Calls for cooperation and unity among Kurdistan’s political parties have intensified in recent weeks, with citizens and officials alike urging a swift conclusion to government formation talks.
Prime Minister Barzani’s message underscores the importance of continuing this legacy while reinforcing the broader goal of stabilizing the Kurdistan Region’s political framework through timely governance and reform.
