ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Head of Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Safeen Dizayee, reiterated on Monday the importance of bolstering ties with China, applauding the Chinese Consulate’s ongoing initiatives to invest across various sectors in the Kurdistan Region.
His remarks came during the launch of the 24th Chinese Bridge Talent Competition for Foreign Students at Salahaddin University in Erbil.
"It is very important to improve our relations with China in all fields," Dizayee stated. "We need to maintain our friendship with this country, and we have already worked with the Chinese Consulate General in Erbil to strengthen our friendship."
In a separate part of his remarks, Dizayee emphasized the value of Chinese investment. "We welcome the initiatives of the Chinese Consulate to work and invest across various sectors in the Kurdistan Region, and we highly value them. We emphasize that we want to deepen our cooperation and joint work with this country."
Highlighting the people-to-people ties between Kurdistan and China, Dizayee noted that annual bilateral visits have become a fixture in their relations. "Our citizens travel to that country, become familiar with its culture and history, and likewise, Chinese citizens come to our cities. For instance, when Chinese citizens visit Erbil, they often praise the city’s peace and stability — something we are pleased to hear."
The "Chinese Bridge" competition, hosted at Salahaddin University, is part of a global Chinese language contest launched in 2002 by the Language Education Center of China’s Ministry of Education.
The event aims to foster cultural exchange and provide students worldwide with an opportunity to showcase their proficiency in the Chinese language and their understanding of Chinese culture.
