ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that he was informed in advance about Israel's recent airstrikes on Iranian targets, telling Fox News Channel that while the United States was not involved in the operation, it remains on high alert in anticipation of potential retaliation from Tehran.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier, Trump stated, “Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb and we are hoping to get back to the negotiating table. We will see. There are several people in leadership that will not be coming back.”

Trump also revealed that his administration had alerted at least one key Middle Eastern ally prior to the Israeli strikes, clarifying that the U.S. had no direct role in the attack. Nonetheless, he emphasized that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is currently on high alert and that the United States is prepared to respond if Iran retaliates against either the U.S. or Israel.

In recent days, Trump has reportedly spoken multiple times with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The conversations come amid a highly volatile period following Israeli airstrikes that, according to U.S. officials cited by Fox News, resulted in the deaths of several top Iranian figures.

Trump also noted that the United States has recently replenished Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system—a move that underscores continued American support for Israel’s security amid rising regional tensions.

As diplomatic efforts remain fragile, Trump reiterated his hope for a resumption of negotiations with Tehran, though he acknowledged that certain elements within Iran’s leadership may not return to the table.

The developments follow growing international concern over the escalation between Israel and Iran, with the United Nations and world powers urging restraint and a recommitment to dialogue.
