Houthis, Hamas Condemn Israeli Strikes on Iran

Yemen’s Houthis and Hamas condemned Israel’s strikes on Iran, calling them a threat to regional stability. The Houthis backed Tehran’s right to retaliate “by all means,” while Hamas warned the attack could spark wider conflict, linking it to Iran’s support for Palestinian resistance

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, widely known as the Houthis, issued a strongly worded statement on Friday denouncing what it termed "Israel's brutal aggression" against the Islamic Republic of Iran, declaring full support for Tehran's right to retaliate "using all available means."

The declaration comes in response to a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities early Friday, a move that has intensified concerns of a broader Middle East conflict.

"The Israeli entity is not only a threat to Palestine but poses a danger to the security and stability of the entire region and the Muslim world," the Houthi political bureau stated. The group rejected Israeli claims regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions as "baseless," arguing that a nuclear-armed Israel lacks the moral or legal standing to act as a regional arbiter.

Ansar Allah also accused Israel of causing "the deaths of tens of thousands" across Palestine, Lebanon, and other Arab countries. Reaffirming its support for Iran's right to self-defense and nuclear development, the group praised Tehran as "the only Islamic state that has remained steadfast in supporting the Palestinian cause."

The statement extended condolences to Iran over the loss of senior military and scientific leaders in the Israeli strikes and issued a broader appeal to the Muslim world to respond. "The Israeli enemy threatens everyone and spares no one," it warned, urging Islamic nations to "shoulder their responsibilities in the face of this grave challenge."

Meanwhile, as reported by AFP, the Palestinian militant group Hamas also condemned the Israeli operation, calling it a "dangerous escalation that threatens to destabilise the region." Hamas, which launched a major assault on Israel in October 2023 that ignited the ongoing Gaza war, linked the strikes to Iran's longstanding support for the Palestinian resistance.

"Today, Iran is paying the price for its steadfast stance in support of Palestine and its resistance," Hamas said.

The reactions from both Ansar Allah and Hamas underscore the growing risk of regional entanglement in the wake of Israel's unprecedented military action against Iran, as fault lines across the Middle East deepen.
