ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – U.S. President Donald Trump has directed the National Security Council (NSC) to be assembled in the White House Situation Room upon his return from the G7 summit, amid rising tensions in the Middle East, NBC News reported on Monday, citing a senior U.S. official.

According to the NBC report by Yamiche Alcindor, Trump’s decision comes as he shortens his stay at the Group of Seven meetings in Canada due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

In a post on X, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the early departure, stating, “President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State.”

The move comes as Israel escalates its military campaign inside Iran. On his Truth Social platform, Trump issued a blunt warning to civilians: “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” He continued, “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!”

CNN, quoting a White House official, reported that the president’s remarks reflect a growing urgency within the administration to pressure Iran back to the negotiating table. Trump, who has remained in close contact with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and top national security aides during the summit in the Canadian Rockies, hinted at a possible diplomatic path ahead.

“I think Iran basically is at the negotiating table where they want to make a deal, and as soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something,” Trump told reporters earlier Monday, as the Middle East crisis overshadowed much of the summit’s agenda.

Meanwhile, CNN also observed Vice President JD Vance, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine, and senior aides meeting at the White House — an indication of intense preparations for the president’s return and potential next steps.

With the situation between Iran and Israel continuing to spiral, U.S. defense and diplomatic officials are monitoring developments closely, amid rising concerns about further regional destabilization.
