Trump Announces Progress Toward 60-Day Gaza Ceasefire, Urges Hamas to Accept Final Deal

Addressing Hamas directly, Trump warned that the current offer may be the group’s last best opportunity. “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that American representatives held a “long and productive” meeting with Israeli officials, resulting in Israel’s agreement to terms that could finalize a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the temporary truce would provide a critical window for negotiations aimed at ending the war. “Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60-Day CEASEFIRE, a time during which we will work with all parties to end the War,” he wrote.

Trump credited Qatar and Egypt for their continued diplomatic efforts to broker peace. “The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal,” he said.

Addressing Hamas directly, Trump warned that the current offer may be the group’s last best opportunity. “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” he wrote in capitalized emphasis.

The announcement comes amid heightened international pressure to de-escalate the months-long conflict in Gaza, which has resulted in thousands of deaths and massive humanitarian fallout. U.S. and regional mediators have struggled to broker a sustainable ceasefire, with past efforts frequently stalling over demands related to hostage releases, border crossings, and long-term security arrangements.

Trump’s involvement signals a renewed U.S. push to end hostilities as concerns grow over the war's impact on regional stability. While details of the final proposal have not yet been made public, the success of the deal now hinges on whether Hamas will accept the terms presented through Qatari and Egyptian intermediaries.

The proposed 60-day ceasefire would be the most significant truce period since the beginning of the war, potentially laying the groundwork for broader negotiations on a lasting resolution.
