ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Friday pledged that the Israeli army will ensure Iran never poses a threat to Israel again, in the aftermath of the 12-day war between the two countries in June.

In an official statement, Katz announced that the Israeli military will develop a strategic plan aimed at permanently neutralizing the Iranian threat. “The Israeli army must be ready both on the intelligence and operational levels to ensure the Air Force’s aerial superiority over Tehran,” Katz stated.

This declaration comes just weeks after Israel launched an aerial bombardment campaign on June 13, targeting key Iranian military infrastructure. According to the Israeli government, the operation aimed to deter Iran from pursuing nuclear weapons and to degrade its ballistic missile capabilities—claims that Tehran has repeatedly denied.

The ceasefire, brokered by the United States, brought an end to what many international observers considered a dangerously escalating conflict. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that his country would continue to take proactive measures to prevent Iran from restoring its nuclear infrastructure.

On June 27, Defense Minister Katz reiterated the government’s stance via social media platform X, writing, “The army will act regularly to thwart any threats,” according to a report by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Israeli media outlets have indicated that the government is currently weighing a military strategy modeled after its operations in Lebanon. Despite a truce agreement with Hezbollah in November, Israel has continued to conduct strikes on sites it alleges are affiliated with the group and its fighters.

The recent statements by Katz and Netanyahu signal that Israel's security doctrine regarding Iran is entering a new phase—one that is likely to prioritize persistent military readiness and regional intelligence coordination.

As tensions remain high, the international community continues to monitor the situation closely, wary of a potential resurgence in hostilities that could further destabilize the Middle East.

Katz concluded his remarks with a warning: Israel will not permit Iran to regain military capabilities that could threaten Israeli sovereignty or regional security.
