ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Iraqi politician Mithal al-Alusi issued a strongly worded statement on Sunday via the platform X, condemning what he described as a "war on the Kurds" and criticizing recent policies and actions by Baghdad and Tehran.

Al-Alusi wrote: “Yes, cutting the salaries of one million employees, the terror of rockets and drones, false Iraqi and Iranian accusations, and a war on the Kurds… and before them, massive armies were defeated. Know that your seditions are disgraceful, and Kurdistan will not surrender.”

In his statement, al-Alusi rejected what he sees as the use of economic and military pressure against the Kurdistan Region, including the suspension of public employee salaries and the use of drones and rockets as intimidation tactics.

He concluded his post with a pointed proverb: "O digger of the well, don't hide its depth—you might be the one to fall in. Fate has a turning wheel, and its turn will come to you."

Al-Alusi, a former lawmaker and prominent voice in Iraqi politics, is known for his consistent support for the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region. He has frequently criticized what he describes as the politicization of humanitarian and service-related issues, particularly the withholding of public sector salaries in the Region.

His remarks come amid ongoing political disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, with salary disbursements and security tensions remaining major points of contention.
