US, Jordan, and Syria Hold Trilateral Talks to Bolster Suwayda Ceasefire and Prevent Further Bloodshed
The three diplomats reached a consensus on the consolidation of the ceasefire, deployment of Syrian security forces in Suwayda Governorate, the release of detainees by all parties involved, and the promotion of community reconciliation and civil peace.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — In a significant diplomatic effort to de-escalate the deadly conflict in southern Syria, senior officials from Syria, Jordan, and the United States convened in Amman on Saturday to reinforce a fragile ceasefire agreement in the war-torn governorate of Suwayda.
According to a statement by the U.S. Embassy in Syria, the trilateral meeting brought together Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani, and U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack to assess the security situation and coordinate support for the ceasefire, which came into effect earlier the same day.
Safadi and Barrack reaffirmed their nations’ full support for the agreement and the Syrian government's commitment to enforcing it. Both officials underscored their solidarity with Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, stating that the country’s stability is essential for broader regional peace.
The three diplomats reached a consensus on a series of practical measures aimed at stabilizing the situation on the ground. These include the consolidation of the ceasefire, deployment of Syrian security forces in Suwayda Governorate, the release of detainees by all parties involved, and the promotion of community reconciliation and civil peace.
The parties also agreed on facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in need and emphasized the importance of restoring the rule of law across Syrian territory.
Importantly, Safadi and Barrack welcomed Damascus’ stated commitment to holding accountable those responsible for recent violence against civilians in Suwayda. They further expressed support for efforts aimed at rejecting sectarianism, incitement, and hatred — themes that have taken center stage amid reports of brutal clashes and widespread abuses.
Syrian Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani expressed gratitude for the roles played by both Jordan and the United States in securing the ceasefire and backing its implementation. He described the joint efforts as vital to safeguarding Syria’s security and the welfare of its people.

The meeting comes amid ongoing concerns over the humanitarian situation in Suwayda, where recent fighting between Arab tribal fighters and Druze groups has left hundreds dead and tens of thousands displaced. The ceasefire agreement is seen as a crucial step toward halting the bloodshed and creating conditions for long-term reconciliation.
