ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) announced on Thursday the arrest of ten ISIS-affiliated militants during a series of precision operations carried out across multiple provinces, in a continued effort to dismantle the remnants of the terror organization.
In an official statement, the CTS confirmed that its forces executed a series of pre-emptive missions, resulting in the apprehension of ISIS operatives in the provinces of Diyala, Salahaddin, Nineveh, and Kirkuk—capturing one suspect in each region.
Expanded Operations in Anbar and Sulaimani
The CTS further revealed that in two separate operations in Anbar Province, three additional ISIS members were detained, while two others were captured in unspecified areas. In coordination with the General Directorate of Counter-Terrorism in Sulaimani, one ISIS operative was apprehended in the province.
Hideouts Neutralized in Western Iraq
As part of its ongoing raids and search operations, CTS units uncovered and destroyed six ISIS hideouts in the desert areas of Rawa and southern Rutba in Anbar Province, further degrading the group’s logistical infrastructure.
The CTS emphasized that these operations fall within the framework of Iraq’s broader counter-terrorism strategy aimed at preventing the reactivation of ISIS sleeper cells and securing areas vulnerable to insurgent activity.
