Kurdistan PM Welcomes Senior British Defense Delegation, Discusses Security Cooperation

Emphasis was placed on respecting the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region, protecting the financial entitlements of its people, and ending the ongoing terrorist and drone attacks targeting the Region.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday received a senior British military delegation led by Edward Ahlgren, the UK’s Senior Defense Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa, according to a statement published on the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) official website.

British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Andrew Beasley, also attended the meeting.

Discussions focused on the latest security developments in Iraq and the wider region, with both sides emphasizing the importance of strengthening coordination and military cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom. They also reaffirmed support for the ongoing reform efforts within the Ministry of Peshmerga.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed the Kurdistan Region’s gratitude for the UK’s continued support and coordination, particularly within the framework of the Global Coalition.
