President Masoud Barzani Welcomes New Japanese Consul General, Vows to Deepen Kurdistan Region–Japan Ties

Consul General Ishizuka expressed delight in taking on his new role in the Kurdistan Region and reaffirmed that the government and people of Japan would continue to support and prioritize the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Japan.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – President Masoud Barzani received Hitoshi Ishizuka, the new Consul General of Japan, in Erbil’s Pirmam district on Sunday, according to a statement from Barzani Headquarters.

During the meeting, President Barzani congratulated Consul General Ishizuka on his new assignment and wished him success. He highlighted that Japanese civilization has made a significant contribution to humanity and expressed his willingness, along with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), to enhance relations with Japan.

In response, Consul General Ishizuka expressed delight in taking on his new role in the Kurdistan Region and reaffirmed that the government and people of Japan would continue to support and prioritize the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Japan.

The meeting also included discussions on the political situation and recent developments in the region and Iraq, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between the Kurdistan Region and Japan.
