Iraqi Hezbollah Rejects Disarmament, Demands Advanced Weaponry from Allies
The Iran-backed group rejected disarmament calls, declaring weapons essential to resist "occupation." It demanded upgraded military capabilities amid regional tensions over Syria, Yemen, and Israel-Iran conflicts.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Hezbollah announced on Friday, that it categorically rejects any calls to disarm and instead demands more advanced weapons from its allies, underlining its commitment to what it describes as a “legitimate duty” of resistance against occupying forces.
The statement came amid heightened regional tensions, referencing the war in Syria, U.S. actions in Yemen, and the ongoing Israeli conflict with Iran.
In its official communiqué, the group stressed that the latest developments, including the persistence of “criminal and takfiri groups led by Jolani in Syria,” U.S. “aggressions against the people of Yemen,” and “Israel’s war against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” are part of broader international pressures. Hezbollah argued these pressures, particularly after repeated demands for Iraqi and Lebanese groups to disarm, seek to undermine what it sees as the foundations of resistance.
The movement insisted that confronting aggressors remains a religious and national obligation, declaring: “Our weapons will remain in our hands to defend our victories.”
The group further underscored its reliance on advanced weaponry and technical capacity, emphasizing that its defensive capabilities must be raised to a level of destruction sufficient to deter any threat to Iraq. “We highlight the importance of our support with advanced arms and technical abilities,” the statement read, calling for preparedness to counter any potential threat against the country.
Reaffirming its stance, Hezbollah of Iraq reiterated that defending the people, particularly Palestine, remains at the core of its mission. The statement emphasized readiness to make further sacrifices “to consolidate our victories against the Zionist entity,” pledging continued resistance against Israel.
