Three Drones Target Choman District in Erbil Province, No Casualties Reported
Security forces monitor the area as local authorities report minimal property damage
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Three drones struck the Choman district, in Erbil province of the Kurdistan Region, on Saturday, local authorities reported. No human casualties were reported.
According to a source in the Choman Civil Defense Directorate, one of the drones hit the Directorate of Social Care facility, while the other two fell near Warda residential buildings.
Property damage was minimal, and security forces are continuing to monitor the area for further threats.
The incident comes as the regional conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States escalates. Since the beginning of the war, several drones and missiles have targeted different areas within the Soran area and Korek mountain in northern Erbil, raising concerns about the security of border districts.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and follow instructions from local security forces while investigations continue.
Since the start of the regional war on February 28, the Kurdistan Region has been repeatedly targeted by Iranian-launched drones and missiles, as well as by drones and rockets launched by Iran-backed Iraqi militias.
Multiple districts and sub-districts in Erbil and Dohuk provinces, including Koya, Choman, and Shaqlawa, have come under attack, prompting heightened security measures and air defense monitoring.
Authorities in Erbil and surrounding areas reported that most projectiles were intercepted or fell in unpopulated areas, resulting in minimal casualties, though property damage has been recorded in some locations.
Kurdistan Region security offices advised the residents to stay alert and follow guidance from security officials amid the continuing threat.
