Kurdistan24 Exclusive: SDF Forces Attacked at Joint Post in Western Kurdistan
Two SDF fighters were killed and two wounded in an attack on a joint SDF-Syrian Army post near Qamishlo, with no group claiming responsibility.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Two fighters were killed and two others seriously wounded in a sudden armed attack targeting a joint security and military post operated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syrian Army forces near Qamishlo in western Syria, according to a Kurdistan24 correspondent.
The attack took place at a joint post in Tawil village in the Qamishlo area, where unidentified gunmen launched a sudden armed assault, Kurdistan24 correspondent Akram Salih reported on Tuesday.
The attack occurred approximately one hour before the report, according to the correspondent.
Salih said the assault was carried out by a group of unidentified armed men and resulted in the deaths of two fighters, while two others sustained serious injuries.
No side or armed group has so far officially claimed responsibility for the attack.
Halzwar Mitani, director of military media for the Eastern Region at Syria’s Ministry of Defense, confirmed that two fighters were killed and two others seriously wounded after an attack targeted an official position of the Qamishlo Brigade forces in Tawil Harb village near Qamishlo.
Mitani said the attack was carried out by an illegal armed group operating outside the law.
He added that military forces in the area are continuing search and pursuit operations targeting those involved in the attack, with the aim of taking all necessary legal measures against them.
