Iraq's Security Media Cell: No Indication Drones Targeting Erbil Were Launched From Iraqi Territory
Major General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell, told Kurdistan24 that the federal government rejects any targeting of Iraqi governorates and considers the Kurdistan Region an integral part of federal Iraq.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Iraq's Security Media Cell said Friday that there was no indication so far that drones targeting Erbil were launched from within Iraqi territory, as security agencies continue to investigate the attacks.
Major General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell, told Kurdistan24 that the federal government rejects any targeting of Iraqi governorates and considers the Kurdistan Region an integral part of federal Iraq.
"Kurdistan Region is an integral part of federal Iraq and that the federal government categorically rejects any targeting of any Iraqi governorate," Maan said.
Maan said the incidents were undergoing rapid, real-time investigations with full transparency.
He said initial information had not indicated that the attacks originated from neighboring Iraqi governorates, including Nineveh.
"Until this moment, there has been no indication of any attacks originating from within Iraqi territory in the governorates neighboring the Region, such as Nineveh or others," he said.
He stressed that the investigation and information-gathering process remains ongoing and that initial indicators do not support claims that the attacks were launched from Iraqi territory.
Maan also highlighted continued joint security coordination, noting that representatives of the Peshmerga forces are present within the Security Media Cell at the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
