President Barzani Vows No Safe Haven for Corrupt Individuals in Kurdistan Region
President Barzani further emphasized that the campaign against corruption must be sustained and uninterrupted, saying efforts must continue in pursuit of justice.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday received Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, head of Iraq’s Federal Commission of Integrity, and an accompanying delegation in Erbil’s Pirmam district, stressing his support for nationwide efforts to combat corruption.
According to Barzani Headquarters, Ahmed Anwar, head of the Kurdistan Region’s Integrity Commission, also attended the meeting.
Al-Lami briefed Barzani on efforts to combat corruption, prevent the misuse of public funds, and strengthen measures to eradicate corruption in Iraq. He also outlined the federal government’s efforts to advance the anti-corruption campaign and the challenges hindering those efforts.
Al-Lami highlighted Barzani’s historic role in building the new Iraq and sought his support for efforts to eliminate corruption across the country. He also praised the coordination and assistance provided by the Kurdistan Region’s institutions and conveyed his appreciation to Barzani.
Barzani welcomed the delegation and expressed his full support for the federal government’s efforts to fight corruption and hold those responsible accountable, describing the campaign as a “sacred duty.”
He stressed that the Kurdistan Region would under no circumstances become a safe haven for corrupt individuals, adding that there would be no red lines protecting any person or party in the fight against corruption.
