Arab Diplomats Reaffirm Support for Kurdistan Region Security
Safin Dizayee says attacks targeting Kurdistan Region institutions carried political motives as Arab diplomats reaffirm support for the region’s security
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Safin Dizayee, head of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations (DFR), held an online meeting with Arab diplomatic representatives in the Kurdistan Region late Monday and thanked their governments for condemning recent attacks on official institutions in the region.
The meeting was attended by the consul generals of Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dizayee conveyed the KRG’s appreciation for the responsible positions taken by the Arab countries in condemning the attacks against institutions in the Kurdistan Region.
“The recent attacks were not merely aimed at undermining security; they had political motives behind them, as they targeted the offices of the Kurdistan Region President and Prime Minister,” Dizayee said.
He stressed that the Kurdistan Region likewise condemns any attack or aggression against Gulf and Arab countries, emphasizing that protecting their sovereignty and territorial integrity is an integral part of maintaining regional security.
Dizayee also expressed the KRG’s support for all efforts aimed at reducing tensions and establishing peace across the region.
He further expressed hope that the full staff of the Arab consulates would return to the Kurdistan Region as soon as possible, stressing the importance of their presence in strengthening longstanding political, economic, and cultural ties.
“Your presence here is a key factor in strengthening our political, economic and cultural relations, which have a deep history between us,” Dizayee said.
For their part, the Arab diplomats reaffirmed their support for the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.
They said they attach great importance to their relations with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, while emphasizing that dialogue should remain the foundation for resolving disputes and addressing regional challenges.
The diplomats also thanked the KRG Department of Foreign Relations for organizing the meeting and for its continued facilitation of the work of international diplomatic missions in the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting comes amid heightened regional tensions and recent attacks on Kurdistan Region institutions, reinforcing Erbil’s efforts to maintain diplomatic engagement with Arab states and strengthen regional coordination on security and stability.
