Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives Russian Ambassador to Iraq

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received outgoing Russian Ambassador Elbrus Kutrashev, with both sides stressing stronger Kurdistan Region-Russia relations.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev on Tuesday, Sept. 8, as the ambassador concluded his diplomatic mission in the country.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani thanked Kutrashev for his efforts to advance relations with the Kurdistan Region and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Both sides stressed the importance of further developing relations between the Kurdistan Region and Russia.

Kutrashev thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for its cooperation and coordination during his diplomatic mission, saying that the support had contributed to its success.

He also expressed Russia's desire to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting was also attended by Russia's Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Maxim Rubin.

In another part of the discussions, Prime Minister Barzani and the Russian ambassador exchanged views on the latest developments in Iraq and the wider region.

The meeting came as Kutrashev prepared to conclude his diplomatic assignment in Iraq, with both sides emphasizing continued cooperation and stronger ties between the Kurdistan Region and Russia.
