ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday inaugurated two major investment projects in the Zakho Independent Administration, including a $20.155 million Nissan distribution and training facility and the $15 million Motor Plex Iraq sports and tourism complex.

The Golden Global Development project will serve as the main distribution hub for Nissan vehicles across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, while also operating as a training center for company staff.

Around 2,000 Nissan vehicles are expected to pass through the facility each month after entering through the Ibrahim Khalil International Border Crossing, before being distributed to cities across Iraq.

The project represents a substantial expansion of vehicle-related commercial infrastructure in Zakho, bringing distribution, inspection, maintenance, storage and training functions together at a single site.

Valued at $20.155 million, Golden Global Development has an implementation period of three years and is expected to create 357 jobs.

The facility includes a vehicle yard, inspection center, car bodywork workshop, quality-control center, spare-parts warehouse, plastic-mat manufacturing workshop and an electric-vehicle charging area.

Prime Minister Barzani also inaugurated the Motor Plex Iraq project, a $15 million development planned across 89 dunams.

The complex is designed to combine automotive activities with tourism and recreation. According to the project details, it will include an automobile museum, a venue for car-racing events, a vehicle testing area and an open-air restaurant.

The development is also expected to provide dozens of employment opportunities for young people and residents of Zakho.

Together, the two projects add more than $35 million in announced investment and combine commercial, automotive, tourism and employment components in an area whose economic infrastructure has been expanding through a series of public and private developments.

Prime Minister Barzani's visit to Zakho on Sunday also included plans to inspect the Zakho corniche and the Toga Porto Marina investment project.

The Toga Porto Marina development, which includes a series of cafés and restaurants operated under international brands, has reached its final stages, according to earlier Kurdistan24 reporting.

The projects form part of a broader period of development in Zakho focused on commercial activity and tourism infrastructure.

Zakho's location and the movement of Nissan vehicles through the Ibrahim Khalil International Border Crossing also give the Golden Global Development facility a role beyond the local market, with vehicles processed at the center before being sent to destinations across Iraq.

For the Motor Plex project, the emphasis is different: the planned facilities are intended to add new tourism and recreational attractions while creating employment for the surrounding community.

Sunday's inaugurations therefore bring together two distinct areas of investment in Zakho, one centered on nationwide vehicle distribution and automotive services, and the other on tourism, recreation and motorsport-related facilities.
