Trump Blames France Student Protests on Mass Migration, Islam

“What’s happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration. This isn’t about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday blamed ongoing student protests in France on what he described as “out of control mass migration” and Islam, framing the unrest as part of a broader warning about immigration and cultural change.

“What’s happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration. This isn’t about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

The demonstrations initially began over concerns about France’s public education system, with high school students blockading schools to protest deteriorating infrastructure, teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms and insufficient education funding.

The protests intensified after the French government unveiled its 2027 budget, which limits increases in education spending to 1.7%, excluding teacher pensions. Critics have argued that the increase falls below the current rate of inflation.

What began largely as a peaceful campaign for increased education resources has since spread across the country and, in some areas, escalated into clashes between young protesters and anti-riot police, as well as incidents of urban violence.

More than 5,000 people have reportedly been arrested, while hundreds of schools have been partially or completely closed and significant infrastructure damage has been reported.

Trump’s comments come ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, as he continues to emphasize immigration, Islam and cultural issues as central themes of his political message.
