ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Two professors from Salahaddin University-Erbil have been included in Stanford University’s annual list of the world’s top 2% most influential scientists, recognizing their scientific contributions and research impact.

On Friday, Saman Abdullah, Head of Media at Salahaddin University-Erbil, told Kurdistan24 that Dr. Botan Jawdat Abdullah of the Department of Physics and Dr. Hazha Omar Othman of the Department of Chemistry were included in the prestigious ranking.

“This significant scientific achievement is a source of pride for Salahaddin University-Erbil and the academic community of the Kurdistan Region,” Abdullah said, extending his wishes for the two professors’ continued success.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists list is compiled through research associated with Stanford University and Elsevier, using citation data from the Scopus database to assess researchers’ scientific impact across various disciplines.

Rather than relying solely on the number of publications, the ranking uses a composite citation indicator known as the c-score. The methodology considers factors including total citations, the h-index, co-authorship adjustments, and researchers’ positions as single, first, or last authors.

The inclusion of the two Salahaddin University-Erbil professors highlights their contributions to scientific research and brings international recognition to the Kurdistan Region’s academic community.
