Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives Lebanon's Culture Minister
Meeting covers the general situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region, with both sides agreeing on the importance of expanding cultural ties between Erbil and Beirut
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Lebanese Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh on Wednesday in a meeting during which views were exchanged on the general situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region, with both sides emphasizing the importance of developing relations between the Kurdistan Region and Lebanon, particularly in the cultural sector.
According to the Kurdistan Regional Government's official statement, the two sides discussed the broader regional context and agreed on the value of strengthening the bilateral relationship between Erbil and Beirut, with a particular focus on cultural cooperation as a foundation for deeper engagement between the two sides.
The meeting comes as Lebanon is navigating one of the most sensitive periods in its recent history, with the country continuing to manage the political and security fallout of the wider US-Iran conflict and its impact on Hezbollah's position and Lebanon's internal dynamics. Lebanon's inclusion of a culture minister visit to Erbil as part of its regional diplomatic engagement reflects Beirut's interest in maintaining and expanding its connections with the Kurdistan Region's government at a moment when Lebanon's relationship with its own internal actors and regional neighbors is in flux.
