ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani reaffirmed Kurdistan Region Government's commitment to expanding trade and investment relations with Türkiye on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, pledging to provide the necessary facilitation for stronger commercial cooperation between the two sides.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while receiving a Turkish business delegation comprising entrepreneurs, company owners and investors affiliated with Türkiye's Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK).

The meeting was attended by Türkiye's Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, and Türkiye's Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Erman Topcu.

Welcoming the delegation, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the Kurdistan Region's interest in further developing relations with Türkiye across various sectors, particularly trade and commercial activities.

He expressed his government's readiness to provide every possible facilitation to strengthen business relations and encourage greater economic engagement between the Kurdistan Region and Türkiye.

Members of the Turkish delegation outlined the objectives of their visit and introduced their respective companies, business activities and projects.

They also expressed interest in undertaking additional projects and expanding their investments in the Kurdistan Region, reflecting their desire to pursue further commercial opportunities.

The discussions brought together the KRG's stated commitment to facilitating business activity and the delegation's interest in extending its investment presence.

Beyond bilateral trade and investment, the two sides discussed the importance of the Development Road Project, particularly its potential to improve transportation and commercial connectivity.

The discussions focused on establishing railway connections linking Gulf countries, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Türkiye and European markets.

The proposed connectivity formed part of the broader economic agenda discussed by the Prime Minister and the delegation, alongside opportunities for Turkish companies to undertake projects in the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for Turkish business representatives to present their activities directly to the Kurdistan Region's leadership, with Turkish diplomatic officials participating in the discussions.
