ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Binance is working with law enforcement agencies around the world, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Secret Service (USSS), after hackers stole a record $6.3 billion from the platform, a person familiar with the situation told Reuters on Friday.

The FBI confirmed it is aware of the incident in a statement. "The FBI is aware of the incident and is engaged with relevant public and private partners to understand the scope of the activity, evaluate potential impacts, and coordinate appropriate investigative steps," the bureau said.

According to the source, Binance's cooperation extends beyond US agencies to law enforcement authorities worldwide. The FBI's statement points to a coordinated effort involving both government bodies and private-sector partners, aimed first at establishing how far the activity reaches and what its consequences may be before investigative steps are coordinated.

The figure of $6.3 billion is described as a record for a theft from the platform. The information available so far does not say how the hackers gained access, when the theft took place, or what Binance's customers can expect.
