ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Iraq's Ministry of Transportation has congratulated Kurdistan24 on the 11th anniversary of its launch, with ministry spokesperson Hussein Ahmed praising the broadcaster's professionalism and commitment to truthful reporting.

In a message addressed to Kurdistan24's management and staff on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, Ahmed recognized the organization's work and expressed his hope that it would continue to develop in the years ahead.

"Kurdistan24 is a free, professional and truthful media organization, and we wish it continued success," the spokesperson said.

Ahmed also used the anniversary to address the responsibilities of news organizations across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He expressed the hope that they would report events accurately, present developments as they occur and remain mindful of national interests in carrying out their work.

His remarks placed factual reporting and professional conduct at the center of his message, while extending those expectations beyond Kurdistan24 to the wider media sector. The spokesperson did not announce any ministry initiative or policy change in connection with the anniversary.

The congratulations coincided with the Kurdistan24 Corporation for Research and Media completing 11 years since the start of its broadcasts. The organization marks the occasion on Saturday as it begins its 12th year of operations.

Throughout that period, Kurdistan24 has sought to build its reporting around journalistic professionalism and research, with the aim of connecting developments in Kurdistan to audiences elsewhere. Its work has been directed toward covering events within the Region while making those events accessible to readers and viewers beyond it.

The organization has also identified the experiences, aspirations and development of the people of Kurdistan as subjects of its coverage. Alongside those priorities, its stated approach has emphasized social cohesion and consideration for the psychological well-being of the communities it reports on.

Ahmed's appeal for media outlets to convey events as they happen reflects a broader principle within that approach: information should be communicated accurately rather than distorted or separated from its context. His reference to national interests accompanied, rather than replaced, his emphasis on truthful journalism.

As Kurdistan24 enters its 12th year, the corporation says it is placing further emphasis on developing the abilities of younger journalists. Strengthening their skills is part of its continuing effort to maintain reporting capacity and prepare new generations to cover events.

The ministry spokesperson's message made no specific assessment of individual reports or programs. Instead, his congratulations focused on the qualities he associated with Kurdistan24 and on the standards he hoped news organizations throughout Iraq and the Kurdistan Region would uphold.

The anniversary therefore brought both recognition of the broadcaster's 11 years of operation and a call from the Iraqi official for media institutions to remain committed to accuracy, professionalism and responsible coverage.
