Israel Strikes Major Iranian Petrochemical Facility
Israel’s defense minister said the Israeli Air Force struck Iran’s largest petrochemical facility at the South Pars gas field in Asaluyeh, describing it as a central hub responsible for about half of Iran’s petrochemical production. He said a prior strike targeted a second key facility, and both sites are now inoperable. Iranian media confirmed attacks on South Pars installations. The strike comes amid ongoing hostilities marked by missile exchanges and airstrikes across Iran and Israel. Casualties have been reported on both sides, including deaths in Haifa and Tehran-area strikes. Diplomatic efforts continue, with mediators proposing a 45-day ceasefire and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, though neither Iran nor the United States has responded publicly.
