Iranian officials on Sunday issued two major developments involving regional and domestic security.

IRGC Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani said on social media that the “Resistance Front” remains “united, strong, and unparalleled,” adding that it is “stronger than at any other time,” according to his post on X.

His remarks referenced ongoing regional tensions and prior escalation involving multiple armed groups, as described in state-linked reporting.

Separately, Iran’s Law Enforcement Command, cited by Fars News Agency, announced the arrest of 50 individuals across 16 provinces in operations targeting what it described as an intelligence-linked network.

Authorities said the operation followed public reports and intelligence monitoring and included the seizure of equipment such as Starlink devices.

The statement also referenced a prior operation involving 85 arrests across 25 provinces. No independent verification was provided for the claims.

As Tehran demands payment for passage through one of the world’s most critical energy arteries, the move raises questions about whether this is a break from postwar maritime order or a return to patterns of power and profit that once defined global trade routes.

European airports could face jet fuel shortages within three weeks if the Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened, according to ACI Europe. The Financial Times reported that reserves are declining and suppliers cannot guarantee deliveries into May. Fuel prices have doubled, prompting airlines to cut capacity and adjust routes. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia issued a strong condemnation on Saturday of recent attacks targeting vital infrastructure in Kuwait, accusing Iran, its proxies, and affiliated groups of carrying out what it described as “heinous attacks” against the Gulf state.

In an official statement, the ministry said the Kingdom “strongly condemns and denounces” the strikes, stressing that they constitute a clear violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and international law, as well as the United Nations Charter.

Riyadh warned that such actions undermine ongoing international efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Saturday that Israel would continue its campaign against Iran and its regional allies, while also outlining strict conditions for potential peace talks with Lebanon.

“Under my leadership, Israel will continue to fight against Iran's terrorist regime and its proxies,” Netanyahu wrote on his official account on X.

Senior officials from the United States and Iran held direct talks in Pakistan on Saturday, with a third round of negotiations expected as efforts intensify to end a conflict that has shaken the Middle East and disrupted global energy markets.

According to Iran’s state broadcaster, two rounds of discussions have already taken place in Islamabad, with another session likely to be held later Saturday or on Sunday. 

Iranian media outlets, including Tasnim News Agency and Fars News Agency, reported that the issue remains a major sticking point, accusing Washington of making “excessive” and “unacceptable” demands regarding the waterway.

Lebanon's health ministry said 10 people including three emergency workers were killed by Israeli strikes on south Lebanon on Saturday, as state media reported raids on more than a dozen locations.

The ministry said three deadly strikes hit locations in the Nabatiyeh district, with the dead including a member of the Lebanese civil defence and two paramedics from the Hezbollah-affiliated Islamic Health Committee, decrying what it said was Israel's "systematic" targeting of emergency workers.

The strikes come as a ceasefire between the US and Iran has halted the broader regional war, but fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon continues.

A senior Iraqi security official told AFP that a drone fell near a U.S. diplomatic team at Baghdad International Airport while they were escorting journalist Shelly Kittleson after her release from captivity. The official said the airport’s diplomatic support centre was targeted by three drones on Wednesday, with one landing about 50 meters from the convoy. The incident delayed Kittleson’s departure but caused no reported injuries. It adds to ongoing tensions involving repeated drone and rocket attacks on U.S. facilities in Iraq since February 28, many of which have been attributed by Washington to Iran-aligned armed groups. The U.S. State Department has condemned recent attacks and summoned Iraq’s ambassador over what it described as militia strikes on U.S. interests. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest incident.
