Iraq's Hizbollah Warns of Strikes on US Bases if Washington Intervenes in Iran-Israel War
The armed Iraqi faction Hizbollah in Iraq issued one of its most explicit threats against American military forces on Sunday, warning that any US intervention in the escalating Iran-Israel confrontation would prompt direct strikes on American bases and interests across Iraq and the region.
"If America intervenes in this confrontation and in Iran's bombardment of Israel, we will target its bases and interests in Iraq and the region," the group declared.
The warning came as Iran launched missiles targeting areas in northern Israel, a strike Tehran framed as a response to Israeli military operations in Lebanon, particularly in Beirut's Dahiyeh neighborhood. The Israeli military stated it was fully prepared to confront the attacks.
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, who also leads Tehran's negotiating team with Washington, accused the US and Israel of not operating in good faith: "They are not committed to a ceasefire and do not believe in dialogue."
