Kurdistan Region PM calls for response to latest drone attack
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Saturday called for "a response" to the latest drone attack that struck a house outside Erbil, stating that condemnations alone are "not enough."
"Thank you to those who have condemned the alarming drone attack on Erbil," the prime minister tweeted. "But this is not enough: there must be a response to this act of aggression."
He added that the "continued terror attacks by outlaws question the federal govt’s power and credibility and threaten Iraq’s security."
The region's Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) on Saturday published photos of recovered components of the three drones.
Two of them, the CTD said, crashed into a house on the outskirts of the capital city of Erbil. The attack reportedly caused no casualties but some damage to one residence and at least two nearby cars.
According to the CTD, marked across the drones were the words, in Arabic, "Peace be upon you, oh Jamal of Iraq," an apparent reference to the first name Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Jamal Ibrahim, the former commander of the Iranian-backed Kata'ib Hizbollah militia in Iraq.

Muhandis was killed in a US drone strike outside the Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020, that targeted Qassim Soleimani, the head of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
No party has yet claimed responsibility.
