ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - A theatrical event entitled ‘Women and Life: Inseparable Twins’ was held in the Erbil School Activities Hall on Wednesday, and it celebrated the achievements of women in the fields of theater, music, film, art and poetry.

At the beginning of the event, a play was presented, expressing the struggles of being a woman in Middle Eastern society.

Then, a score of music was performed with notes of tambourine and flute, among other Middle Eastern instruments.

A series of speeches were later read by Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw and the city’s arts director, Farhang Ghafoor.

Ghafoor told Kurdistan 24 that the reason for organizing this ceremony was to “honor the creativity” of female artists and poets who have been trying to develop and advance the field among Kurds.

“They have participated with us in the development of art in Kurdistan and in all national issues with their theater, music and colorful paintings,” Ghafoor said, and noted, “They have documented plenty of research on women's issues and have become a rich treasure trove of innovation and art.”

At the end of the ceremony, certificates were awarded by the director to a select group of women who have played a significant role in the arts.
