ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Major General Mohammad Bagheri, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, declared on Sunday that Tehran's drone and missile strike on Israel during the night had achieved its objectives.

In statements to state television, Bagheri announced, "Operation True Promise was executed successfully last night and this morning, achieving all its aims," as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

He revealed that the strikes targeted two military installations: an intelligence center providing information for the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the Nevatim base, where F-35 planes took off for the April 1 strike.

Bagheri affirmed that both sites sustained severe damage and were rendered inoperable.

The top Iranian military official emphasized, "We have no intention of prolonging the operation against Israel; from our perspective, the operation has concluded." He warned that Iran's response to any further aggression from Israel would be significantly harsher.

"The Supreme Leader ordered Israel to be punished. Thanks to the efforts of the Revolutionary Guards and all other forces, the operation was successfully executed," he stated. "This operation served as a warning, but if Israel provokes again, Iran's retaliation will be even more severe," he reitirated.

Bagheri also conveyed a message to Washington, Israel's ally, through the Swiss embassy, warning that American military bases in the region would not be safe if the US cooperated with Israel.

Meanwhile, Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, asserted that Iran had the capability to launch a more extensive attack on Israel. He stated, "We limited this operation to the facilities used by Israel to target our embassy in Syria."

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed the drone and missile attack on Israel in retaliation for the bombing attributed to Israel on April 1, which resulted in the destruction of the Tehran consulate building in Damascus and the deaths of 16 individuals, including two Guard leaders.

In response, the Israeli army announced that it had successfully intercepted "99 percent" of the drones and missiles launched during the attack, with minimal damage occurring at the Nevatim base.

However, the Iranian attack on Israel has had major international responses.

As senior U.S. officials denounced the Iranian attack Saturday on Israel, they stated that some of the 300 drones and missiles targeting Israel were fired from Iraq.

They also warned Iran’s proxies that Washington would act to defend U.S. forces, which the so-called Islamic Resistance in Iraq had threatened on Friday.
