Barzani charity foundation distributes over $4.9 million in aid during Eid al-Adha

The Foundation highlighted its commitment to supporting refugees, displaced persons, orphans, and those in need through a series of humanitarian and charitable projects as part of its annual Eid al-Adha tradition.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) issued a report on Sunday detailing its aid distribution efforts during Eid al-Adha in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Afrin.

The Foundation highlighted its commitment to supporting refugees, displaced persons, orphans, and those in need through a series of humanitarian and charitable projects as part of its annual Eid al-Adha tradition.

According to the report, the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) implemented five key humanitarian projects during Eid al-Adha 2024:

1. Distributing meat
2. Cash assistance
3. Buying Eid clothes for orphans
4. Supporting orphans in the region
5. Distribution of food baskets

These initiatives benefited 11,574 families and 15,803 orphans, with a total budget of $4,931,010. The projects were funded by the Barzani Charity Foundation in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent Society and Kurdish donors.

The Foundation operates under the guiding philosophy of Mulla Mustafa Barzani’s famous saying: "It is an honor to serve one’s people."

The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization founded in 2005. The Kurdistan Region's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani heads the foundation’s board of founders.

This charity provides financial assistance to orphans and their carers and also participates in supplying disabled people with wheelchairs and other equipment as well as some other facilities. Thousands of Kurds from Turkey (the north) and Iran (The east) of Kurdistan who fled to the Kurdistan Region benefit from this foundation.  

The foundation has been highly recognized for its work at different times, in 2013, it was the first charity organization to provide urgent humanitarian aid to Kurdish refugees from Syria (Rojava) who fled to the Kurdistan Region.

The foundation is well-known internationally as in 2016, it was granted Consultative Status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

It’s been officially licensed by the British Charity Commission in 2020. Also, officially registered as a charity organization in Kuwait in 2016.
