Barzani discusses Mosul liberation with Iraqi army, Coalition
The Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani visited Peshmerga forces in Makhmur-Gwer frontlines and met with the Coalition forces and the Iraqi army.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – On Thursday, the Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani visited Peshmerga forces in Makhmur-Gwer frontlines and met with the Coalition forces and the Iraqi army.
Masoud Barzani, the Commander in Chief of Armed Forces in the Kurdistan Region, visited the Peshmerga forces to celebrate Ramadan Eid along with the Peshmerga commanders of the frontlines across the Kurdistan Region.
Later, with the presence of Peshmerga commanders, Barzani supervised a meeting between the Peshmerga forces, representatives of the Iraqi army, Hashd al-Watani forces and international coalition against IS, Kurdistan Region Presidency (KRP) statement read.

In a speech, Barzani congratulated the Peshmerga commanders for the Ramadan Eid, and stated that “In solidarity with families of the martyred Peshmerga, no ceremonies will be held for Eid. On behalf of all Peshmerga and families of the martyred, I congratulate the brave Peshmerga and their families."
Barzani said that Mosul liberation has been part of the discussion with the Iraqi army and the coalition forces.
“The visit to this frontline [Makhmur-Gwer] is because Peshmerga, Iraqi army, and the Coalition forces are together and to convey a message to the world that we are standing together against a common enemy which is the enemy of humanity. God-willing, we will achieve a big victory and defeat the terrorists,” Barzani said.
According to the KRP statement, the meeting discussed Mosul liberation operation and stressed the coordination and cooperation among all sides.
“The presence of representatives of all frontlines, brigades of Ministry of Peshmerga and brigades of 70 and 80 is proof that Peshmerga forces are united,” Barzani concluded.
