US Vice President expresses support to Kurdistan’s delegation visit to Baghdad
A top-level Kurdistan Region delegation headed by President Masoud Barzani is scheduled to visit Baghdad on Thursday for political talks with Iraqi authorities.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – US Vice President talked to the Kurdistan Region President ahead of the Region’s high-level delegation's visit to Baghdad.
On Wednesday, Joseph Biden, America's VP contacted Masoud Barzani, the Kurdistan Region President via the phone to support the upcoming visit.
According to a statement by the Kurdistan Region Presidency (KRP), Biden expressed the US's support for Kurdistan’s high-level, multi-party delegation that will visit Baghdad on Thursday.
Biden hoped that the visit will be successful and have good results and the process of dialogue and negotiations between Erbil and Baghdad continues, the KRP statement added.

This is the second time in a month that VP Biden has spoken with President Barzani.
On August 31, the White House released a statement on the phone call between President Barzani and VP Biden, stating that “The leaders underscored the urgency of sustained progress in the fight against IS, Iraq's economic recovery, humanitarian assistance for displaced Iraqis, and cooperation to liberate Mosul.”
“Vice President thanked President Barzani for his leadership and Kurdish commitment in the fight against ISIL,” and encouraged “close coordination between the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG),” the statement read.
According to Kurdistan24 sources, several political party leaders will accompany the Region delegation in the visit to Baghdad.
The group will mainly discuss the Mosul liberation operation and Kurdistan’s independence with the authorities in Baghdad.
