KRG Prime Minister invites Donald Trump to visit Kurdistan

The Kurdistan Region President and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump for being elected the next President of the United States.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region President and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump for being elected the next President of the United States.

In a statement on the Kurdistan Region Presidency website, President Masoud Barzani applauded the US President-elect Trump and wished him success in his new duty and responsibility.

President Barzani conveyed gratitude to the people and the government of the US for helping and supporting the Region in the war against terror.

The President added he hoped cooperation and alliance between the two nations become stronger in the future.

President Barzani stated the people of Kurdistan look forward to more support from the newly elected leader to achieve the rights of the people of the Region.

Elsewhere, Nechirvan Barzani, the KRG PM, in a statement on the government’s website, congratulated Trump for winning the presidential elections.

PM Barzani explained that the people of the Kurdistan Region were eager for Trump’s support to Peshmerga forces and the Region.

“The US presidential election is held at a time [the Kurdistan Region] is busy with a big operation in Mosul and surrounding areas to eliminate Islamic State (IS) terrorists,” PM Barzani added.

The KRG PM said the “people of Kurdistan were aware of Mr. Trump’s remarks and support to the Kurdistan Region and Peshmerga forces during the election campaign and they are eager for such support.”

“The US and Kurdistan Region share many values and are firm allies in the fight against terrorism and extremism,” he continued.

“We stand ready to work even more closely together, and look forward to welcoming the President-elect here in the future,” PM Barzani’s statement concluded.
