ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Thursday, unidentified gunmen assassinated Fadel Al-Marsoumi, the founder of the Al-Da’i Party, near Al-Tajiyat Passage, north of Baghdad.
According to Al-Sharqiya, two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a car near the roundabout bridge, carrying three individuals. This attack resulted in the death of the party's founder, Fadel Al-Marsoumi.
The Da'i Party, established in 2008, is a Shiite political party that has participated in Iraqi parliamentary and provincial council elections as an independent list.
Presently, the party is running on the Wataniun list (Patriots) for the upcoming December 18 provincial council elections.
Fadel Marsumi, the party's founder, held a university degree in Arabic and was born in the Khalsi district of Diyala province. He briefly studied in the seminary and later identified himself as "Imam Rabbani," claiming to be the Mehdi, the twelfth Imam of Shiite Islam, reported Shafaq.
Notably, Marsumi advocated against any political group or party possessing weapons outside the state.
