Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri arrives in Baghdad for high-level talks
On Friday, Bagheri will travel to Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to hold meetings with Kurdish officials.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Thursday, Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, for a series of high-level discussions with Iraqi officials.
According to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), Bagheri's visit will include meetings with senior Iraqi leaders.
Bagheri began his visit by paying respects at the monument of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, located on the airport road in Baghdad.
This visit is part of a broader regional tour that will see Bagheri engage with key Iraqi political figures, including Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, ministers, members of the House of Representatives, the Supreme Judicial Council, the National Security Advisor, and others.

IRNA reported that Bagheri's discussions in Iraq will focus on the shared interests of the two nations, addressing security challenges and threats, regional security, and consultation on both regional and international issues.
This visit occurs while the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was originally scheduled for a three-day visit to Iraq starting May 28.

Ali Bagheri was appointed Acting Iranian Foreign Minister following the death of former Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who perished in a helicopter crash involving President Raisi on May 19 in East Azerbaijan Province, northwest Iran.
