Preliminary results announced for 14th presidential election in Iran
So far, only about 20% of the total votes have been separated and announced. The percentage of voter turnout has not yet been revealed.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - On Saturday, the spokesperson for Iran's election headquarters, Mohsen Eslami, has announced the preliminary results of the fourth presidential election in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to IRNA news agency, the seventh preliminary results from 37,024 polling stations across 408 cities, where 14,070,462 people cast their votes, have been released.
Among the four candidates, Massoud Pezeshkian, the reformist candidate, is currently leading.
The breakdown of the latest preliminary results, which cover 37,024 branches in 408 cities with 14,070,462 votes counted, is as follows:
- Massoud Pezeshkian: 5,955,781 votes
- Saeed Jalili: 5,560,321 votes
- Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf: 1,891,385 votes
- Mostafa Pourmohammadi: 111,967 votes
This election is particularly significant as it is the third early election following the helicopter crash that claimed the life of late President Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage in Tabriz province on May 19, 2024.
According to the National Election Commission, more than 61 million people in Iran were eligible to vote.
