ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Halabja Governor Azad Tofiq on Sunday told Kurdistan24 that Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met all the demands presented to him during his visit to Halabja province.

Tofiq detailed that a nine-point memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister at the provincial office. "If there had been 19 points, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani would have implemented them all," Tofiq remarked.

Governor Tofiq highlighted that the premier has visited Halabja twice in the past four months and has initiated several service projects in the province, demonstrating his commitment.

"There is no legal obstacle to the governorship of Halabja," Tofiq explained, "but the Iraqi parliament will not vote on the bill due to the disagreement of some political parties who have linked the issue of Halabja's governorship to other political matters."

Additionally, Tofiq mentioned that two new memoranda were submitted to the Prime Minister on Sunday, focusing on the agricultural and tourism sectors, with requests for implementation similar to the previous demands.

"During the Eid al-Adha holidays, 40,000 tourists visited Halabja province," Tofiq revealed, underscoring the province's growing appeal as a tourist destination.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Barzani visited the Khurmal district of Sulaimani province and laid the foundation stone for the Halabja silo.
