Kurdistan Region's President, Austrian Foreign Minister meet in Vienna

The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening Austria's relations with  the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, particularly in economic and commercial sectors.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Tuesday, the Kurdistan Region's President Nechirvan Barzani met with Alexander Schallenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, in Vienna.

The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening Austria's relations with  the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, particularly in economic and commercial sectors.

Discussions also covered the political landscape in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as Austria's role in the international coalition against ISIS.

Kurdistan Region's President expressed his satisfaction with the visit and praised Austria's historical relations with the Kurdistan Region. He conveyed appreciation for Austria's support during challenging times, emphasizing their assistance to the people of Kurdistan and their legitimate rights.

Austrian Foreign Minister Schallenberg expressed his happiness with Kurdistan Region's President Barzani's visit and reaffirmed Austria's commitment to supporting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting also addressed raising Austria's representation in the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations, the conditions of displaced persons and refugees in the Kurdistan Region, the threat of ISIS, migration, and other mutual interests.

The discussions were attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq and the representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Austria.
