ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kamran Ali, director of Kurdish education in Kirkuk, informed Kurdistan24 that the teams from the MyAccount initiative will be visiting schools in Kirkuk in the coming days to register Kurdish teachers. It is expected that all Kurdish teachers will be registered with the MyAccount initiative within a few days.

Ali also mentioned that the banks involved in the MyAccount initiative have opened ATMs and banks in Kurdish neighborhoods of Kirkuk, making it easier for Kurdish teachers to withdraw their salaries in the future.

He further added, "The Ministry of Education has written to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers to allocate land to Kurdish teachers in Kirkuk and Khurmatu."

According to figures from the KRG, over 400,000 employees have already registered with the MyAccount initiative, and there are currently 231 ATMs available throughout the Kurdistan Region. By the end of 2024, this number is expected to reach around 1,000.

So far, eight banks have participated in the project, including BBAC, Cihan, RT Bank, Bank of Baghdad, Iraqi Islamic Bank, National Bank of Iraq, Trade Bank of Iraq, and the International Development Bank.

The MyAccount initiative is the KRG's financial inclusion program, aiming to "provide public sector beneficiaries with a safe and convenient way to access their salaries."
