ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Economic Department of the Erbil Security Directorate has seized over four tons of smuggled chicken liver in a warehouse, marking a significant operation in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal imports.

The operation took place on Tuesday in a warehouse located near the White Mosque on 60 Meter Street in Erbil.

Nabaz Abdulhamid, the mayor of Erbil's central district, provided details of the seizure in an exclusive statement to Kurdistan24.

"Our committees are diligently inspecting and following up on expired and smuggled food and goods, ensuring they are not sold in the market," Abdulhamid said.

He revealed that the warehouse contained more than four tons of smuggled Iranian chicken liver. This discovery is part of a broader crackdown on illegal goods in the region.

The governor emphasized that the importation of all kinds of chicken liver is strictly prohibited as per the Ministry of Agriculture's directives.

"Citizens should be aware that only domestically sourced chicken liver is permitted for consumption, and this restriction will remain in place for a certain period," he stated.

This seizure underscores the commitment of the Erbil authorities to protect public health and ensure that only safe and legally approved products reach consumers.

The crackdown on smuggled goods continues as part of the government's broader efforts to regulate the market and uphold food safety standards.
