KRG, Jordan ink historic agricultural MoU

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Jordan have taken a significant stride in their bilateral relations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of agriculture.

The landmark agreement will be signed on Sunday in the presence of KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

Begard Talabani, the Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, hailed the occasion as "historic and important." She emphasized the KRG's commitment to fostering this relationship, particularly in the realms of administrative, technical, and agricultural collaboration, drawing upon Jordan's extensive experience in the agricultural sector.

The MoU, comprising 10 articles and encompassing 13 key points, outlines a comprehensive framework for cooperation in various agricultural domains, including plant cultivation, poultry, animal products, and food processing industries. Talabani views this partnership as a valuable learning opportunity and a testament to the KRG's progress in the agricultural sector over the past five years under the ninth cabinet.

This agreement marks a significant milestone in the KRG's efforts to diversify its economy and enhance its agricultural capabilities. By leveraging Jordanian expertise and fostering mutual cooperation, the Kurdistan Region aims to boost its agricultural output and ensure food security for its population.

On Saturday, the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Musa al-Henefat, arrived in the Kurdistan Region on Saturday evening, via Erbil International Airport.

Upon his arrival, the Jordanian Minister was welcomed by Begard Talabani, the Kurdistan Region's Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, and Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil.

The visit by the Jordanian Minister is part of ongoing efforts to enhance coordination and cooperation between the Ministries of Agriculture in the Kurdistan Region and Jordan.
