Next week, Kurdish factions, officials, Iraqi government dispute salary list

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhawan Abdulla announced in a press conference on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, "as our duty, early next week, ministers, officials and Kurdish factions in Baghdad, will discuss and how to sort the salary issue out.”
While having a high-ranking delegation from the Kurdistan Region are in Baghdad to discuss the cause of employees’ salaries in Kurdistan Region, and some other issues with the Iraqi government.
The Kurdish delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) consisting of five director generals who arrive arrived in Baghdad last night August 27th, 2024 and it is scheduled to meet with the Ministry of Finance and the Iraqi Supervising Office on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024.
According to his announcement, the main topic of the meetings with the Iraqi government officials will be the monthly salary list that is overdue, which is of both July and August.

The Kurdistan Regional Government sent over the list of salaries of employees and civil servants also security forces to the Iraqi Ministry of Finance 32 days ago, but, so far the Iraqi Ministry of Finance sent only 36 billion dinars for the month of July.
According to sources at the Kurdistan Regional Government, yesterday Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, the Iraqi Ministry of Finance handed over about 550 billion dinars for the August month, for only employees in Kurdistan Region.
However, the Ministry of Finance and Economy at the Kurdistan Regional Government has not sent the salary list to Baghdad, yet.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) hasn’t officially given any statement regarding the extra amount of money, which is claimed to be for August month, in their bank account in the Central Iraqi Bank- Erbil branch, neither the Iraqi Ministry of Finance given any clarification, especially the list has not been sent over, yet.

As the KRG staff announced that all the requirements have been met regarding the salary list sent out to the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Depending on the Ministry of Finance and Economy statistics, the Kurdistan Region has 1.114.194 employees with a total monthly salary about 913 billion dinars.
According to an agreement between the two governments, Kurdistan Regional and the Federal, the Kurdistan Region must hand over all domestic revenues and 50% of the border checkpoints revenues to the federal government.
In return, Baghdad provides the employees’ monthly salary to the Kurdistan Regional Government.
