ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Brigadier Abdul Salam Hamoudi, deputy head of air defense in northern Iraq, has confirmed to Kurdistan24's reporter Hemn Delo that the drone shot down in Kirkuk on Thursday night was a Turkish TAI Anka.
The incident occurred around 11:00 PM, resulting in the drone splitting into three pieces that landed in various locations within the city, including a residential yard.
According to Brigadier Hamoudi, the drone entered Kirkuk airspace from Sulaimani without obtaining permission from the federal air defense authorities, prompting its downing.

One of the drone fragments ignited a fire in the Tise’en neighborhood, which was subsequently controlled by Kirkuk's civil defense teams.
As of the time of this report, the Turkish Defense Ministry has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
